Claim Reports

Your Vehicle Has Been Damaged or Stolen. Now What?
  • Contact the police. Do not discuss the details of the accident with anyone but the police.
  • Keep a pen and paper in your vehicle so you can:
    1. Write down what happened
    2. Make a diagram of the events and damage sustained to the vehicles
    3. Note the weather and road conditions
    4. Indicate if you noticed the smell of alcohol or observed any unusual behaviour.
  • Consider keeping a disposable camera in your car so you can take photos at the scene.
  • Exchange names, addresses, telephone numbers, insurance company information and policy numbers with all involved parties, including any passengers or witnesses.
  • Get the license plate number of anyone who won't cooperate.
  • Don't sign anything, discuss liability or accept fault with others involved or with witnesses.
  • Report your claim to:
    1. Your Bunnell Hitchon Insurance broker during regular business hours, or
    2. The Bunnell Hitchon's 24-hour emergency claims service 888-224-5677
  • If you are eligible for a rental vehicle, your broker or claims service representative will help make the arrangements.
